Chester Lowder is a former dairy man who is currently employed with N.C. Farm Bureau Federation. Mr. Lowder has an extensive background in animal agriculture and farming, has helped provide a voice for dairy producers in the process of legislation and rulemaking, and has kept the N.C. Dairy Producers Board informed of developments. He graduated from N.C. State University with an Animal Science Business degree. Mr. Lowder has served on the Board of Directors for the N.C. Veterinary Medical Foundation, N.C. Agriculture Foundation, N.C. Dairy Foundation, Stanly County Board of Commissioners, Stanly County Community College Board of Trustees, Stanly County Farm Bureau, North Carolina Farm Bureau, Uwharrie Capital Corporation, Uwharrie Bank and past Chairman of the Stanly Soil & Water Conservation District. Mr. Lowder has also served on a number of committees that assisted the N.C. Department Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in developing non-discharge rules for confined animal operations, NPDES permits, and technical specialist training; and the Working Lands effort led by NC DENR that fueled the development of SERPPAS, the NC Sentinel Landscape Partnership and the NC Sentinel Landscape Committee; and currently serves the NC Sentinel Landscape Committee as the liaison to the Partnership, and will be joining the Working Lands Trust Board of Directors late 2019.
