Barry is the acting lead on The Nature Conservancy's American Forest Carbon Initiative, a program under the North America Region which focuses on delivering innovations that improve the quality and accessibility of forest carbon markets and supporting TNC staff in the field who are engaged in forest carbon work. Prior to joining AFCI, Barry was Conservation Finance Specialist for TNC's Global Forestry & Wood Products, a team responsible for new business and investment models that drive large-scale reforestation globally. Barry joined TNC in 2016 after twenty years in private equity and impact investment. His career included a three-year stint as a Managing Director for the Global Emerging Markets Forestry Fund, a portfolio of forestlands in South America, Africa and Southeast Asia. Barry holds a bachelor's of science in operations management and accounting from Eastern Illinois University and a master's from Northwestern University's Kellogg Graduate School of Management.
