Chehalem Ridge Nature Park (CNRP)is a 1200+ acre (mostly) forested protected area in the western edge of the greater Portland region. Saved from a large-lot home development and subsequently developed into a nature park in concert with the local community, CRNP weaves together themes of regional land protection, inclusive planning and park development and forward-thinking land stewardship. Metro staff will discuss site restoration, conservation goals and on-going site management, inclusive park planning and Tribal engagement to augment the visitor experience and site understanding. We will walk up to 5-6 miles with a modest elevation gain, enjoying a picnic lunch at the viewpoint prairie with multiple forest types and, weather permitting, outstanding views of the Wapato Lake Basin and Tualatin Valley.
