This tour brings attendees to one of Oregon’s natural wonders - the Columbia River Gorge. Along the way to the Lloyd Center, Multnomah Falls and lunch at Kiyokawa Farm, we will learn about the geographic and human history of this landscape; from the Tribes that have stewarded the land for millennia to Pacific Northwest farmers who raise 84% of the nation’s fresh pears. We’ll see a pear harvest firsthand with a local pear grower and County Commission Chair while paying special attention to Oregon’s unique land use program, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year and visit an innovative in-fill housing development to learn about how the program focuses development within urban areas to prevent sprawl. This trip concludes with a wine tasting at Cathedral Ridge Winery.
