Did you know nature could tackle one-fifth of our nation’s carbon emissions, equivalent to the emissions from all U.S. passenger vehicles? This session will introduce the concept of Natural Climate Solutions – how habitat protection, habitat restoration and changes in forestry and agricultural management practices on both natural and working lands can play an important role in addressing climate change. We will give an overview of the goals of the U.S. Natural Climate Solutions (NCS) Accelerator, a grant program designed to help land trusts and other nonprofit organizations access catalytic funds to develop and demonstrate ideas that have the potential to accelerate the pace and scale of natural climate solutions. Following the presentation portion, Accelerator steering committee members will discuss the types of scalable opportunities that could be promising projects for future grants, and answer audience questions about the application process, timelines, project ideas, and available support for applicants.
