Chris Dematatis is an architect and a professional member of the Land Trust Alliance and the U.S. Green Building Council. He has thirty five years of custom home design and land planning experience on projects in Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina, Colorado and California. His portfolio includes some of the earliest highly energy efficient passive solar heated homes in Virginia, some designed and built over thirty years ago. Prior to joining the Land Trust of Virginia in 2005, he worked for four years to place more than one thousand acres of mountainside property along the border of Loudoun County and Clarke County, Virginia, into conservation easement with the Appalachian Trail Conservancy. In doing so he helped to protect over one and a half miles of the Blue Ridge Mountain ridgeline above Ashby Gap and contributed to the preservation of the viewshed from the Crooked Run Valley in northern Fauquier County and from the valleys in Southwestern Loudoun County and southern Clarke County.
